As the only source of ivory is from the tusks of elephants, the trade in ivory has been a big contributor to why elephants have been heavily poached, and in some areas actually all killed off.
And since it's really hard to tell if a piece of ivory is old enough to be from the time when hunting elephants was seen as OK, or if it s from an animal that has been recently poached, the simple solution to avoid dealing with parts of poached animals is not to deal in ivory at all - and that's a complete ban on (trading in) ivory.
lots to the elephant
'Complete' means finished or 'in total'.

Ivory is worth a lot and is illegal to trade. Ivory is obtained by the killing of elephants for their tusks or rhinos for their horns. DONT BUY IVORY NO MATTER WHAT THE VALUE!

A worldwide ban on ivory sales was imposed in 1989, then in the late 1990s the ban was lifted to allow some southern African states to sell down their inventories of ivory confiscated from poachers, and now only limited sales are permitted.

Some people think that the ivory trading shouldn't be banned because they still want to use it for pretty ornaments.
Step 1)Ban the sale & purchase of ivory. 2)Make it illegal to own. 3)Confescate ivory items as contriban. 4)Possibly hold public displays of large quantities of ivory art being destroyed to really get the point though.
it is NOT useful except for making trinkets an jewelry, this is one of the most abhorrent crimes (poaching ivory)that is going on today, so if there would not be a market for ivory this would not occur, many countries including Canada and the USA as well as many countries in Europe have put an absolute ban on ivory.
It is highly doubtful Stardust Dragon will get a complete ban.
No but they are endangered. Nations around the world have put a ban on hunting elephants for their tusks. Also, the sale of Ivory (elephant tusk) is a crime in most nations. Since ivory is the main reason why elephants were killed in thousands, the ban on ivory sale has actually helped reduce the number of poaching incidents in Africa and India. Still there is illegal sale of ivory in the black market and law enforcement authorities around the globe are trying to catch such criminals to help the elephants.
