Paritism is a Organism relationship where one organism benefits and the other gets harmed. For example, say a tick comes in and lands on a dog. The tick benefits from the dog's blood while the dog is (or can be) harmed or even killed!

Parasitism is a type of symbiotic relationship between organisms of different species where one organism, the parasite, benefits at the expense of the host.

parasites that live on the hosts surface are called ectoparasites (e.g. fleas and some mites)

parasites that live inside the host are called endoparasites (e.g. tape worms or the protozoan of the genus Plasmodium, that causes malaria).

Examples

The bot fly and the human being.

Only the bot fly larvae live as parasites. Dermatobia hominis, the human botfly, is the only species of botfly known to use humans as the host to its larvae.

Another example of parasitism is fleas and mammals.
