What are the problem between Russia and Georgia?

Russia's invasion of Georgia is best understood in the context of the USSR era Soviet Union. In the time of the Soviet Union, Georgia was a mix of many ethnicities and cultures, and to this day maintains that diversity. Seeing this declaration as a potential to regain lost territory, Russia invaded Georgia with the intent of annexing as much territory as allowable by international appeasement, but with the guise of assisting their culturally similar and ethnically dependant brothers in a struggle for independance.
