Depends on the country or geographical area. Generally, in England and its colonies, they would often refer to the king or queen of the time. In France, they often used the term empire such as 2nd empire etc. Baroque was popular in the 1600s and leading edge design in the 1600's and 1700's often used this. Earlier styles continued to be built however, perhaps including gothic, etc.

Ecological architecture could also be called green architecture or sustainable architecture. It would be defined as buildings that are built with the environment in mind, i.e. energy efficiency, earth friendly building materials, etc.

Gothic architecture have its origin in France from the 12th century until the 16th century. The architecture then was popularly called Opus Francigenum which means "French work".
England
The first French newspaper, printed in the 1600s, was named "la gazette".
The French province of Acadia settled in Louisiana during the 1600s. Today the French province of Acadia is called Nova Scotia.
In the 1600s the Peruvian volcano called Huaynaputina exploded and caused one of the most violent eruptions in South American history. The Battle at Newport also took place n the 1600s.
