The AORTA, which is a wide elastic vessel connected to the left ventricle of the heart, carries blood to almost all of the other arteries of the body.

The aorta is the largest artery in the body.It connects directly to the hearts left ventricle. it splits into smaller arteries, arterioles, and finally into tiny capillaries where nutrients and oxygen transfer to the cells and waste products and carbon dioxide move into the blood which carries them through veins to be eventually eliminated in the lungs, kidneys, and liver.
