Off the top of my head (trying to remember back) slide colour only has a latitude of about 3 stops (depending on film). That is what gives it that great colour contrast for fashion and commercial photos but difficult exposures. Colour print film is about 4-5 stops (depending on film). Black and white depends on the film but I recall 9 stops being possible. I've pushed B&W film 6 stops and it was still quite usable. I've pushed colour film 3 stops and it was mediocre, however, it was a low end film.
