Earthquakes can destroy people's house.It might cost people a lot of money to build a new house. It can cause cracks on the ground from buildings collapsing on the ground.Which can cause a lot of car accidents.

That totally depends on 1) its strength and 2) its location. In many earthquake-prone areas, buildings have been constructed in such a way as to withstand even heavy earthquakes.

The immediate effect of any earthquake is that it makes the ground do anything between slightly tremble and shake forcibly. Any further effects (a tsunami might be one of them) depends on the other factors mentioned above and on the number of people living in the area.
