The aorta is the largest artery in the body and consequently is the largest leaving the heart. The other artery to leave the heart is the pulmonary artery (incidentally the only artery that doesn't carry oxygenated blood).

∙ 12y agoThe aorta is the largest; it takes oxygenate blood from the heart to the body. There is also the pulmonary artery, that takes deoxygenated blood from the heart through the lungs. This blood then returns to the heart through the pulmonary vein, passes through the left ventricle, the left atrium, and finally out the aorta!
