No i believe that Shale is considered a Clastic rock because it is made up of small pieces of other broken rocks.
I
Sedimentary rocks are rocks made out of sediment, which is often other rocks ground down to powder. Metamorphic rocks are sedimentary rocks that have been changed (partially melted and hardened) by being exposed to extreme heat and pressure. So, yes.
The planet Saturn.
Yes.
Clastic (those formed of particles of other rocks) and non-clastic (organic and chemical precipitate or evaporite rocks).
No. The rocks you describe are clastic or detrital sedimentary rocks.
Clastic sediments are sediments that have particles or pieces of rock (clasts) in them. The clasts can be of igneous, metamorphic or sedimentary rock. Non-clastic sediments are made up of dissolved minerals or organic matter.
Chemical: Minerals were dissolved in water to form it. Organic: Formed from the remains of living things. Clastic: Formed form bits of other rocks.
A clastic sedimentary rock.
other sedimentary rocks.
Clastic rocks are sedimentary rocks consisting of bits and pieces of other rocks created by physical/mechanical weathering. Non-clastic are also sedimentary rocks; however are absent bits and pieces of other rocks and are formed through chemical processes (e.g. hydrolysis, evaporation, precipitation, oxidation) or form out of organic material (e.g. coal, chalk).
Clastic (or detrital): Sedimentary rock formed from particles of other sedimentary, metamorphic, or igneous rock which has been weathered, eroded, deposited, compacted and cemented. Examples of clastic sedimentary rock include shale, sandstone, mudstone, and conglomerate.Chemical: Chemical sedimentary rocks have intergrown mineral crystals that are precipitated from saturated aqueous solutions and chemical residues. The precipitated minerals that are commonly included are halite, quartz, limonite, calcite, chert, dolomite, hematite, and gypsum; consequently, common chemical rocks are limestone, chert, and rock gypsum.Organic:Organic sedimentary rock is rock that is derived or generated from sediments that are produced by organisms. Coal and chalk are examples of organic sedimentary rock.
Clastic sedimentary rocks are those that are composed of cemented particles of other rocks. Examples are conglomerate, breccia, sandstone, and shale.
The rock described would be a clastic sedimentary rock.
Both organic sedimentary (like coal) and chemical sedimentary (like rock salt) rocks are not composed of particles of other rocks, as are the bulk of sedimentary rocks classified as clastic (shale, sandstone, conglomerate).
Yes. Sandstone is considered as a clastic sedimentary rock because it is formed from small particles of weathered and eroded rocks from various sources.
