There are tons of things! It is good though, if you are a beginner and you have someone with sewing experience to help you pick out a pattern and with the rough spots. You may want to sew a beautiful dress or maybe you just want to do some patching, it is good if you know al the basics anyway. Your first time you should pick out something that does not have lots of frills, ruffles, or zippers. No embroidery, fancy stitching, or button-hooks and/or clasps of any sort. A good pattern is pajama pants. They are fairly simple and you can wear them a lot. Some good places to look for patterns are Hobby Lobby and Joann's. There will be books and cabinets. Look first in the books and pick it out then remember the number and company. Go to the cabinets and look under the right company and numbers. it should be right there. Use the size chart on the back too se how much material you need. The directions are inside if it is a simple pattern it should be pretty clear. Remember: measure, measure, measure! And have fun!
