Light intensities are usually measured in candle power. What that means is the equivalent of the light of one candle, measured at a distance of one foot, sometimes called, `foot candles' or `candellas'.

In the SI system the flux or "amount" of light, is measured in lumen; and the illuminence or brightness of the light, on a surface in lumens per square metre, a compound unit called the lux.
Illumination is usually measured in foot candles, lux or lumens. Foot candles are measured one foot from the light source, whereas lumens are measured at a distance of one square meter. To convert from lumens to foot candles requires converting from square meters to square feet. Foot candles x 10.76 = number of lux.
Kohler Illumination is extremely important when observing a specimen under a microscope. Without Kohler Illumination, it would be nearly impossible to achieve a high-quality image of the specimen, and therefore scientists would be unable to study and observe a multitude of living things in a beneficial way.
shielding is used to decouple the effects of incident illumination

Illumination is the art of drawing and decorating the first letter of a manuscript. The Book of Kells is an incredible example of the art. For more information on illumination please see the related links below.

LUX is the measurement of illuminance and luminous emittance from light sources.
A three-letter word ending in "ux" is "lux," which means a unit of illumination or light.
Illumination can also be called lighting.
