Graphs, which are a essentially a comparison of one variable to another, are used in a number of training applications. You won't see a fireman dressed in turnouts with a clipboard and a sheet of graph paper on it standing on the fireground. He'd better already know his firefighting hydraulics. But back in the training facility, all fire fighters look at graphs to quickly grasp concepts. The flow rates of water, consumption of air from a breathing apparatus (BA) and other ideas often come with graphs to assist in training. This is no different than what you do in school when you use or create a graph. A graph can be looked at as a pictorial representation that compares two dependent things as they vary (changing variables). With a bit of practice, the reviewer can learn to quickly grasp concepts by looking at a graph that would take much longer to understand through explanation.

I have never heard anyone call it 'graph paper' and since it doesn't already have a graph on it, the proper term would be 'graphing paper.'
