When speaking about World War One, the term of the Great War comes to mind as it was such an extensive war and cost so many lives. Other terms are the War to end all Wars and the Last Great War.
The other two names for the "Sitzkrieg" (a nickname given by German soldiers during the lull in fighting) are "the Sitting-Down War (translated literally from German) and the Phony War.
