Regular craft enamel and acrylic paints work reasonably well on glass. If you are afraid of the paint washing or chipping off, you can buy diamond sandpaper that will help the paint grip the glass without leaving scratches on the glass, or you can buy a spray.

For a better look, easier application, and amazing results, there are craft paints designed specifically for glass application. These paints have a consistency designed for easy application and a range of translucency from clear to completely opaque. They also have varying textures available, to closely resemble actual stained glass.

Hobby stores like Michaels

Arts & Crafts carry a multitude of glass paint

colors and other product to help in application and durability. Look for glass paint brands from Decoart®,

Martha Stewart Craftsâ„¢

You can use a primer like XIM followed by an acrylic or oil based paint. Or, for a one coat solution, PPG sells a product called Break-Through that will adhere to any surface without priming, including glass or ceramics. PPG is sold through PPG Pittsburgh and PPG Porter Paint stores and dealers.

Try using a bonding primer. XIM is a good primer for this

- There are also paints in craft stores that can be used to give a faux stained-glass look. In mt experience, they are however not durable enough for exterior use.

- You might try paints designed to use on ceramic tiles. Same Principal, and I've seen good results with them.

Can you still see through a light coat of mirror paint?

Well, If it is called "Mirror Paint" I'm pretty sure that you can put it on there, if normal paint then i would recommend painting the frame instead of the mirror there is Glass Paint which i recommend you use instead.

How do you get paint off your mirror?

If you are removing drips, it is fairly straight forward. Most hardware stores carry a little something called a paint scraper. It is a metal (or plastic) handle with a single edged razor in it. Gently slide the blade (at a flat angle) along the surface of the glass of the mirror and scrape of the drips. If you have completely covered the mirror with chalkboard paint, my suggestion is to buy another mirror. The time, effort, and frustration of removing that much paint is not worth what it will cost for the mirror.

Why is the inside of a mirror green?

because the glass used to make a mirror is green but then covered in a layer of silver therefore when you look down a mirror tunnel it will get dimmer and greener revealing the green glass behind the paint.

What kind of glue to mix with paint to paint glass?

Just add as much glue to the paint as necessary. The glue will change the opaque-ness of the colour.

What type of glass is on a mirror?

You can use any kind of glass to make a mirror - clear or colored, soda-lime or borosilicate, float glass or blown glass. Most mirrors are made out of float glass (standard window glass) coated with a layer of silver. The silver is protected by a layer of paint. Some manufacturers add a layer of copper between the silver and the paint to protect the silver from tarnishing. White metals like silver and aluminum reflect all the colors of light. You can also make a mirror with other metals, such as gold, copper or lead sulfide. Some telescopes and dental mirror are made with a layer of aluminum "sputtered" onto the front of the glass. You can see yourself in a mirror because the light rays that bounce off your face (or any object) bounce back to your eye when they hit the layer of metal instead of passing through as they do with transparent glass.

How are mirrors produced?

A mirror is simply a piece of glass with silver paint painted on the back. This allows the light, when it passes through the glass, to bounce off the paint and back through to your eye therefore creating a virtual reflection. Hope this helps!

If you spray the back of glass with silve paint will that show reflection?

Not properly. There are two ways to make a mirror: Domestic mirrors are silvered (with metallic silver) on the back surface (because people touch the front) of the glass then this silver layer is coated with protective paint and plastic. A domestic mirror lasts a long time. Astronomical mirrors are silvered (with metallic aluminum) on the front surface of the glass (so the light does not have to pass through the glass to be reflected) by evaporating the aluminum metal onto the glass. An astronomical mirror needs frequent re-silvering.
