How is trigonometry used in computer graphics?

Well the short answer I know of, is that through the use of linear algebra operations, (which define trigonometry), 3D models can be manipulated very easily. All of the points on a 3D display are run though a matrix multiplication operation that to the effect of multiplying each point by the cos(x).

What is toning in computer graphics?

Toning is adjusting the tint/shade of a color or an image. In Photoshop, this can be done many ways including "Hue/Saturation", "Curves", or even by creating a layer with a color and altering the opacity. This effect can create more dramatic imagery. It can also add "dating" to an image (like a sepia tone).

What is the effect of RAM on a desktop publishing packages?

RAM is the computer's 'volatile' memory. Data is rapidly transferred in and out of the RAM (Random Access Memory) all the time. When the computer is switched off, the RAM is empty.Insufficient RAM capacity makes the computer run slower. Keyboard instructions take longer to have effect. Sometimes the screen freezes if things are getting really bad. More RAM, the easier and quicker it is for data to be processed by the PC.If the RAM gets temporarily full with data being processed, the system has to take alternative action, maybe by using unused space on your hard drive. All this takes extra time. It is better to have sufficient RAM in the first place. Many computers now have at least 2 GB of RAM, but with software, especially graphics packages, becoming more and more sophisticated, 4GB of RAM will soon become the norm.Find out how much RAM your PC has, and, if necessary, you can purchase RAM which can be slotted into your computer. It may not be too expensive. Enquire at a computer shop. Take your computer with you, if you can. It will help them determine the best type of RAM for your machine.

What are the disadvantages of vector graphics?

There are a few. Vector graphics are more "scalable" than raster graphics. By this, I mean you can draw a design that's six inches high, enlarge it to four feet high, and still have it look sharp. If you did that with a Photoshop file, the picture would become extremely jagged. Vector graphics' filesizes are smaller than raster graphics' filesizes. If I were to build a 12-inch square item at 60dpi, which is my standard resolution (you can get away with that if you're printing things that are to be viewed at a distance), and I did it in Photoshop, the file would be about 2MB. In Illustrator, it would be less than half that. I have a customer who gets pickups wrapped; I can do a whole pickup truck side in Illustrator in less than 20MB. That won't happen in Photoshop. Vector graphics tend to print faster than raster graphics do, and the prints are cleaner looking.
