It depends on the tattoo shop you would get it done at. Most tattoo shops have a minimus price (anywhere from $50 - $100) because you have to pay for a new needle, tattoo ink, etc. If it's a very small tattoo, most shops will do it for the minimum cost.
I would not advise getting a tattoo. There might be a later time when you wished you didn't have it.

I think a nice mother/daughter tattoo would be for the mother to get " Daughter" in Chinese symbols tattooed on her, and for the daughter to get " Mother" tattooed on her to symbolize each other :) I think something like a chainsaw masacer tatooo with blood and gour!!
If you are the mother of his children, it would be conventional to have him honor you, his mother and your mother. Not necessarily in any particular order.
