Yes, but it is difficult. The problem it that the clay has as dried and shrunk some. How much it has shrunk depends on the clay and how bone dry it it. If you create slip out of the same clay as it dries it will shrink and the broken parts will fall apart.

One solution is to make a slip using bone dry trimming shavings from the same clay and vinegar. Vinegar tends not to shrink as much as water when mixed with clay. Some people add corn syrup to that as well to make it stickier. It burns out when fired. If you are saving it for using another time it will tend to get moldy and smelly so some people add iodine or another product to prevent growth. You can also use straight vinegar and scoring to create a little slip area on the place where you want to attach the other piece. Either way you need to wrap it carefully and dry it very slowly!

If the crack is do to shrinkage and is through the bottom you will be unable to fix it. The crack will just come back. Make the piece again.

This an another way:

recipe:

I gallon water.

3 tablespoons liquid sodium silicate.

1 and 1/2 teaspoons of soda ash.

Add about 3 tablespoons of this mixture to a cup of slip and put it on both pieces and push them together.

There are also some comercial products called Magic mender and APTII Mender. I have had mixed results with them.

It is said that paper clay cna repair cracks too but I have not tried it. You can make your own or buy it. It is clay with paper pulp mixed in to it.

Is the modifier of Lying in pieces on the floor the broken vase was irreparable correct?

No, the modifier "lying in pieces on the floor" does not correctly modify the subject "the broken vase was irreparable."
