According to the Baltimore Sun article (see Related Link), this year (2009) Wal-Mart will be open 24 hours - from Thanksgiving night through Black Friday - to help lessen the amount of people coming through.

Updates: For 2010, the case might be different depending on what state and Walmart shop you are planning to buy. Usually, they will open on 5:00am but with the manager's jurisdiction they may open earlier depending the mass of people. That's why you should call your local store first before rushing in. Found a news article online (and linked it for you) that says Wal-Mart will be open 24 hours Thanksgiving night through Black Friday to help ease the crowds that will be coming on Friday, but the doorbuster sales won't begin until 5am.

But you should probably double check with your local Wal-Mart to be sure all stores are doing the same.

They open at 5 amand close at 11 pmI usually go shopping at wal-mart every black Friday here in Georgia. Yes, Wal-mart is 24/7, but the special items for black Friday are usually roped off. At 5AM they cut the ropes and everyone grabs everything! My husband went one year and it was FUNNY seeing him run from the crowd of old ladies trying to get a toaster. We make memories every year.
