The cast shadows are generally the darkest parts of any subject, and together with the shadows are often visible when the light surfaces of the objects are invisible. They show the shapes of the objects casting them, and also those of the objects receiving them, and are most important features of any subject.

Objects such as buildings, trees, and clouds can block sunlight and create shadows on the ground.
As the earth rotates the angle if the sunlight changes which affects shadows.
The presence of shadows decreases, not increases, when the sun sets. This is a common occurence when there is less exposure to sunlight, such as when the sun goes down.
Shadows change throughout the day due to the movement of the sun across the sky. In the morning and evening, when the sun is lower in the sky, shadows are longer because the sunlight has to travel through more of the Earth's atmosphere. At midday, when the sun is directly overhead, shadows are shorter as the sunlight hits objects more directly.
Shadows appear tallest in the morning because the sun is low on the horizon, casting longer shadows due to the angle of sunlight. As the day progresses, the sun rises higher, reducing the length of shadows.
Dynamic shading can be implemented by using software or materials that adjust the intensity or direction of light in real-time. This can create depth, texture, and visual interest in a design by adding movement and changing shadows.
sunlight blocks out S waves in certain regions.
Marjorie Hoare has written: ''Sunlight and shadows''
Shadows are shortest at noon when the sun is directly overhead, creating a smaller angle between the sunlight and the object casting the shadow. As the angle increases in the morning and afternoon, shadows lengthen.
