The big scandal was the one involving Carter's old Georgia buddy, Bert Lance, whom Carter appointed as his Director of the Office of Management and Budget. Lance was forced to resign when improprieties arose from Lance's board chairmanship at Calhoun (GA) bank. Lance was indicted and tried but got off.

The failed Iranian rescue attempt was a fiasco and embarrassment, but not really a scandal. Jimmy's brother, Billy, was accused with good reason of influence peddling, but Jimmy really had no control over his brother,

Besides the Geneva peace accords, he did nothing. He didn't make the country better, nor did he make it any worse. Personally i like him; he was one of the few who didn't mess up America
