A son and a daughter, Kingsley and Mary, with his first wife, Louise Hawkins, aka Touie. Two sons and a daughter with his second wife, Jean Leckie : Adrian, Dennis and Lena Jean (who became Dame Jean Conan Doyle, commander of the Women's division of the Royal Air Force in World War II) Kingsley dies of influenza in 1919, after active service in World War I. None of Sir Arthur's children had children.

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle wrote 56 short stories and four novels about the "first consulting detective".
Mary Foley Doyle was Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's mother. His wives were Louise Hawkins and Jean Elizabeth Leckie neither of whom did he divorce.
The name on his birth certificate is Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle, and he never changed it. He played football (soccer) goalie using the name A. C. Smith, but that is not a real name change. He was awarded a knighthood in 1902, but that is not a name change either.
Arthur Conan Doyle's first paying job as a doctor was as a medical officer aboard the steamship Mayumba, which travelled from Liverpool to Africa. After his stint on the Mayumba, Doyle settled in Plymouth, England for a time. where he again practised as a doctor.

'Sherlock Holmes' was first written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and then it was turned into several TV series and movies as well. [Not to mention plays, radio dramas, video games, audio recordings, etc., etc., etc.] It should be noted that Sherlock Holmes is now in the public domain. This means that anybody can write a Sherlock Homes story and need not fear a legal scolding. [Technically, the complete Sherlock Holmes will not be in the public domain until 2023 though most of it is already.] And Dr. Watson has also been very famous as he is known as the shadow of Sherlock Holmes.
