There is no definite answer as to why Kandinsky painted 'Black and Violet.' However, there is a common theory that he had synesthesia. Along with that, he claimed he heard music when painting, so that may have translated to him 'hearing' black and violet leading to creating the painting.
Probably something he painted at Art Academy in Munich, not known any more. We don't know! It was something he produced while studying art in Munich, now long forgotten and probably not in existence.
