What was some of the entertainment in the year 1900?

Things haven't changed that much. There was still Baseball, Football, music, art, etc. There was no drinking of alcoholic beverages, but a flurry of night life erupted where dancing and drinking of "black market" liquor was done. It was after all the decade of "flappers". Shopping was a big item, tennis, badmitton, radio, since there was no t.v., but movies were shown. Travel was big for those who could afford it. Mostly ship travel. So, I was wrong it has changed a lot, but still many of the things we enjoy today, were enjoyed back then as well.

In 1919, the 18th amendment was ratified This was the amendment of Prohibition making alcohol illegal. Therefore, people went to speakeasies These were underground, mob-owned jazz clubs where illegal alcohol was served. Many of the greatest Jazz players played in these establishments including Louis Armstrong. Ragtime was fading into, and melding with, Jazz. So basically you had two choices, getting drunk off of 70-80% alcoholic drinks while listening to the syncopated rhythms of Jazz, or hang out with a newly confident generation of young women. Women were starting to wear makeup and short skirts (well not short, but short for back then.) Anyway, there wasn't much normal entertainment in the 20's like we have now. The entertainment industry also nearly died soon afterwards because of the Great Depression that hit in the late 20's and did not end until WW2 gave us a new industry to produce goods for. In 1933, the 18th amendment was terminated because the American People needed a break after the Great Depression.

Vaudeville was popular. Primitive silent films existed, although they were only considered suitable entertainment for the lower classes. Ragtime music was at its peak.
