The bongo drums were used in many African tribes (although they were used in many other parts of the world) because they were small, portable, easy to make. They were used for entertainment or for spiritual rituals.

Some of the most popular African Drums are the Djembe (my personal favorite), the Talking Drum, Bata, Bougarabou, and the Ngoma. Look up videos of all of them being played...they all have similar qualities but each one produces a unique sound!
