The villain in both the film and the book is Ernst Stavro Blofeld, James Bond's arch nemesis. However, there is a difference between the two media, in that the film portrays Blofeld as the mastermind, hiding behind a Japanese organisation. In the novel, the villain is always Blofeld but using another identity as Dr. Guntram Shatterhand.
