747-400's will not all necessarily have PTV's. I think it may depend on how old the plane you are traveling on is. As the previous person stated, they've begun adding PTV's to these planes, but the older planes were not put out of commission just for not having personal tv's.
I've been on 3 flights on 747-400's, the 1st one had the tv's in the back of headrests in coach, the 2nd and 3rd flights did not. The last flight was on April 21st, 2009 and did NOT have the tv's. I have another 747-400 flight on April 25th, 2009...here's to hoping i have a tv to view!!

ABOUT time if you ask me ! Sorry, but this is incorrect. On the NW/DL 747-400, only the World Business Class has the personal video system. The coach seats still only get the usual screens on the bulkheads.
