earthquakes
Shear stress.
A convergent earthquake happens when two techtonic plates are moving toward each other and one is submerging under the other. Think of a car accident between a Mazda and a Humvee. The Mazda would be the submerging plate in this example....and because they're coming toward each other (the plates), it is more destructive. When tectonic plates slide along each other, its a transform border....more like a side swipe instead of a head on collision.
Transverse - Plates move side by side Convergent - Plates move towards each other, usually one gets subducted. Divergent - Plates move away from each other.
Earthquakes occur from tectonic plate movement, transform, divergent and convergent.KIDS ANSWER:Earthquakes happen by the plates of the world moving, these plates can move in three different ways. Transform which is when the simply slide past each other. There is also divergent and convergent divergent is when the plates don't like each other so they move away from each other, and convergent which is were the plates are mad at each other so they have a fight and go into each other.hope this helps!!!!!!!!!!from a year five school girl
It can generate raised landmasses such as mountains because of the plates moving over and under each other.

the tectonic plates of the earth move and scrape against each other
a transform boundary is when two plates scrape past each other with an effect of a earthquake
Two tectonic plates commonly scrape each other at transverse boundaries. The scraping of the plates causes a lot of tension and strain which eventually causes fault lines. When the scraping is strong enough, earthquakes are felt.
no they jam into each other and create earthquakes
Yes, earthquakes are primarily caused by the movement of tectonic plates. When two plates slide past each other, get stuck, and then suddenly release, it generates seismic waves that we feel as earthquakes.
When two plates slide past each other, this is called a transform fault. Earthquakes can occur when the plates scrape by. If the earthquake happens underwater, a tsunami may occur. (Like in Japan)
No, tectonic plates move in different directions. Some plates move towards each other (convergent boundaries), some move away from each other (divergent boundaries), and others slide past each other horizontally (transform boundaries).
The plates of the earth scrape against each other, and that can cause earthquakes too!
