There are actually four valves in the human heart. The heart has four chambers. The upper two are the right and left atria. The lower two are the right and left ventricles. Blood is pumped through the chambers, aided by four heart valves. The valves open and close to let the blood flow in only one direction.

-The tricuspid valve is between the right atrium and right ventricle.

-The pulmonary or pulmonic valve is between the right ventricle and the pulmonary artery.

-The mitral valve is between the left atrium and left ventricle.

-The aortic valve is between the left ventricle and the aorta.

Each valve has a set of flaps (also called leaflets or cusps). When working properly, the heart valves open and close fully.

What part of the heart opens when blood is flowing through?

The part of the heart that opens when blood flows though is called the valve. There are four valves in the heart, two atrioventricular valves and two semilunar valves.

Does the left side of the heart have more valves?

No. There are two "valves" on each side.

What is the function of the valves which connect the two heart chambers?

Valves prevent the backflow of blood.

State the valves of the heart and their?

How many valves are in the blood circulatory?

There are four valves of the heart: two are located between the atria and ventricles of the heart (called atrioventricular valves) and two are located in the major vessels leaving the valves (called semilunar valves). The left atrioventricular valve is also known as the bicuspid valve or the mitral valve. The right atrioventricular valve is also known as the tricuspid valve. The two semilunar valves are named after the vessel they lie within: the left semilunar valve is called the aortic valve because it lies within the aorta; the right semilunar valve is called the pulmonic valve because it lies within the pulmonary artery.Ruben JoubertThere are four valves in the human heart. There is the aortic vavle, the tricuspid valve, the pulmonary valve and the mitral valve. The are two types of four main valves. The first two are the atrioventricular valves. These valves separate the atria from the ventricles. The two atrioventricular valves are the mitril valve and the tricuspid valve. The other type of valve are the semilunar valves. The semilunar valves are between the ventricles (which pump blood) and the arteries that flow away from the heart. The two semilunar valves are the aortic and pulmonary valves. There are four one-way valves in a human heart. These are the only valves in the heart. There are four valves in the heart (not counting the valve of the coronary, the isotonic valve and the valve of the inferior vena cava): two atrioventricular valves (mitral valve and tricuspid valve); and two semilunar valves (aortic valve and pulmonic valve).

How do you use bicuspid in a sentence?

Bicuspid means having two valves. A normal heart contains tricuspid valves.

The second heart sound is caused by?

Closure of the two atrioventricular valves, specifically the tricuspid and mitral valves.

What is the use of valves in the heart.?

The use of the valves in the heart is to have blood flow regularly through the heart. The valves pump blood out of the heart into the body.

What are the cords that hold the two heart valves in place?

Chordae Tendineae

What is considered upper heart valves?

The upper heart valves are called atriums, and the lower heart valves are called ventricles.

What are the names for the two different sets of heart valves?

Atrioventricular valves Bicuspid Valve Tricuspid valve Pulmonary valve Aortic valve these are all the valves which are part of the heart.

Four valves of the heart pump?

The two atrioventricular valves are mitral valve and tricuspid valve while the two semilunar valves are aortic valve and the pulmonary valve.
