A Satellite SID will be your Serial Identification Number. Its much like an IP address that designates your modem. This is used so that your Satellite provider can keep track of who is requesting service from them. Your Modem will send the SID to the satellite which will then verify that modem should have service. If you cancel your payments they will block that SID which is tied to your Name and Account.
a modem that connects to your PC either directly or through a router/switch/hub, windows. The modem must be connected to the internet, either through Coax', phone-line or other.
DB9 is a connector, not a cable. It is most commonly used for RS-232 serial connections like an external modem.

Short Answer:Because your data travels a long way into space and then back down. When you request a document (packet) the space travel alone is 88,964 Miles total. If you are getting true speeds slower than dial-up you may have an issue with your dish pointing, network, computer, or bad weather as well.Long Answer:Hughes.net satellite internet travels from your computer through whatever network you have setup, into geostationary orbit, back down to the United States East Coast in Maryland I think? Then it travels across the land lines to your destination and then back on the same route. I believe the limitation with Hughes Net is the fact that your data is traveling so far, also they have one data center on the east coast and it usually has some speed issues internally too.If you are transferring a lot of really small files you will notice this communication distance because a steady stream is not being sent to your computer. The computer is consistently asking for more data, increasing upstream plus downstream communications. If you transfer just one large file you will notice faster speeds because a steady download stream is sent to your computer with less need to send upstream requests. If they had a data center on the west coast and on the east coast, or even one in Texas, we would see a little lower latency. The biggest disappointment with Hughes Net is quality. They are trying to make it affordable *cough* and to do that they seem to have lost quality in their support and in their data centers.A new satellite is being launched in 2012. Lets hope it will help some users get better speed. http://bit.ly/cF8DcGeostationary Orbit. Look at this map (http://bit.ly/3FEVCD) and think about data traveling to and from the black dotted line. Notice that it is far out (22,241 Miles) that is the same distance of the equatorial circumference of Earth, and the data travels that path twice.User Comments:*I have Hughes. Net about a month and I am very disappointed. The average speed is 720b/s.*I've used Hughes.Net business Services and am mostly disappointed with their really bad Modem/Router (HN9000 / HN7000 ) that forces your network to conform to with missing features.
If you are a resident of the United States you can get it at the comcast website or if you are not a United States resident you can buy from Amazon. Or you could go to your local electronic store.
The comcast modem is a cable modem not a DSL modem so they cant be compared.
The Mediacom cable modem is just as fast as the Comcast DSL modem.
Simple call Comcast
If you mean your Comcast modem for the internet you purchase a Cat 5 or Cat 6 ethernet cable long enough to go from the back of the PS3 to where the modem is. If you already have a computer connected to the modem then you will either need to unplug the computer each time you want to use the PS3 or purchase a router so the signal can be routed to both devices. Both items are often found at greatly reduced sale prices Just because you have Comcast for TV does not mean you can use it to connect to the internet, but if Comcast is already providing internet service to your house it is easy to run a router from the modem and plug both the PC and PS3 into it and no service charge or equipment rentals are necessary
Yes and no. The iPod Touch uses whatever internet the local router is using, so if the router you are using is connected to your Comcast Internet modem, then you are using Comcast Internet. If the router you are using is using another modem, like AT&T modem, then it is using AT&T internet.
If the question is understood properly, the other QoS option that is available on a Comcast modem is VOIP. There appears to be a problem with certain Comcast routers and stacking services; however, possible solutions can be found online.
To stop Comcast from charging an illegal modem fee, you can first contact their customer service and inform them that you own your modem, not lease it from them. Provide proof of ownership if needed, such as a purchase receipt or original packaging. If the issue is not resolved, file a complaint with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) or your state's attorney general.
The security key on a Comcast Modem is located next to the serial number of the unit. Sometimes the serial number is the number used as a security code if it is not printed on the device.
You don't use the cable cord. You use an ethernet cable of either Cat 5e or Cat 6 between the PS3 and the Comcast cable modem. If something is already connected to the cable modem like a desktop PC you must either disconnect it (switching back and forth as you want to use each device) or purchase a router and connect both the desktop PC and the PS3 to the router and the router to the modem.
not the modem it self, but with an internet plan. im not sure if comcast's high speed internet offers wifi but i know Xfinity does
A GSM Modem is a modem that operates over a subscription like a mobile phone. One can purchase a GSM Modem from eBay, Walmart, Amazon, and Robot Shop.
