Van Gogh paintings date from 1881 until his death in 1890. Drawings date from 1877 to 1890, water colors from 1879 to 1890 and sketches from 1880 to 1890.

As far as what time of day did Van Gogh work, the answer would be at various times. Most works were created during the day but paintings such as Cafe Terrace At Night and Starry Night over the Rhone were painted at night.
