Look on Wikipedia or find a decent map of North America and locate Florida (it should be easy because it sticks out like a sore thumb). Go to the westernmost (to your left) part of Florida and then find Florida's northern border (the top). Cross that line and you have found Alabama. If you cross a boundary marked Mississippi River you have searched to far West or to your left. If you find an area marked Pacific Ocean then you have searched way to far to the West.
