Most scientists believe that after the Earth was formed simple bacteria began to appear as the Earth cooled. Then the bacteria evolved into photosynthetic bacteria, a very simple form of plant, and into other single-celled organisms. These gradually became more complicated as they evolved over millions of years into plants and animals, and eventually after many more millions and even billions of years they eveolved into the plants and animals we know now.

Other people believe that the world was created by God or gods, and there are many, many religious theories as to the creation of the world.

There are other theories, both religious and non-religious but none have been proven so the matter is open to speculation.

When the planets had been around for a few billion years. In our time, roughly 3 billion or so years ago is when life first began.
