∙ 15y agoon the V6 and the 2.2L engines it's just to the right of the oil filter. On the 2.4L engines it's mounted to the front camshaft housing on the driver's side of the engine compartment.

I just had that problem in my 2002. The dealer blamed the fuel pump module - that's the pump and gauge sending unit together. The replacement module is $500! I hope its fixed...but from what I've read it could also be the fuel pump relay - or the socket into which it plugs. Next time, I'd try this fix first - get a new relay (about $10) and replace the original. Also, clean the socket where it plugs in. If that doesn't fix it, shell out the money for the pump/sensor module.
