to the best of my knowledge there is no electric starter on the 1974..i have a 74 kickstart ive been looking to convert to electric..but im not happy about spending over $400 for the kit..my XL 1000 has been bulleted to 1200 and it kicks back hard enough to break an ankle or send a guy flyin,lol.. if anyone knows how to convert the old kicker without spending an arm and a leg,let me know please..im sure if i don't find a way im gonna break a leg,lol..good luck and take care :)

The XLH Sportster came with factory Electric start and is located just right of the battery box. The XLCH has a kick start.
