∙ 13y agoI got my first tat at the base of my neck, and I'm pretty much a pain INtollerant person. I was scared, but the tat was a fairly small sized one, so it didn't take that long. My second tat (three days later) is on my bicep which I thought would hurt less. Well, because it was a larger tattoo (two hours), it hurt quite a lot. Bottom line, I don't think it really matters because although I've been told that your back or back of neck is more sensitive than shoulder, I think it depends on the artist (I went to two separate ones) and how large the tattoo is.
