Dead cell in the battery. A light is on drawing power from the battery. You may also have a relay that is stuck.

99 ford ranger won't start not even a click it is a 5 speed?

Check your battery. Most likely the culprit is a dead battery. A quick check across its terminals with a voltmeter will tell you.

Will a bad solenoid make no noise when you turn on ignition?

If your battery has a full charge, and NO noise is heard. It is most likely a lose or broken wire from the battery to ignition switch or from ignition switch to solenoid. A bad neutral switch may also be the problem or a blown fuse. A clicking noise would indicate bad solenoid contacts or a low battery charge. Although the a solenoid may be at fault, the other reasons are more likely. Note: On cars without automatic transmissions, check the clutch interlock switch.

No power 2000 Mercedes S500. Disconnected battery replaced starter and relay attached battery and wont start. No power in control unit?

More than likely you have a bad ignition switch however your anti-theft system could still enabled.

My car won't start i put the key in the ignition and it won't come out the lights won't come on what could it be?

It sounds lke the battery. Check the battery cables to make sure they are tightly attached to the battery. Check for debris that may need cleaning off.

1978 Trans Am 400 ci totally rebuilt The car will not start this is not a battery problem Nothing happens when you turn on the ignition What could the problem be?

Is the car in park? Do the lights turn on? If so are the dim, or bright? If no lights you likely have a dead battery. From there I would check fuses. Good luck.

When you turn the ignition and you her a click?

Dead battery, defective starter, are the most likely causes.

Why does the battery run down if not used for two days on Ford Taurus?

More than likely this is caused by a condition called "parasitic draw" on the battery. Meaning that even though the key is turned off, and removed from the ignition, something is still siphoning power from the battery. Any number of things can be the culprit. You will need to have a qualified service center do some troubleshooting to determine the source.

My car won't start it will only make a clicking noise What could be wrong?

More than likely the battery is to weak to start the engine. If it's not the battery, the starter may be the culprit.

Car alarm going off randomly on Nissan 2000 xterra?

I had the same problem with my 2000 xterra and it turned out to be low battery voltage. Check your battery this is most likely your culprit. Mudlvr

Why won't your car steering wheel turn?

Your cars immobilizer is most likely the culprit. It locks the steering wheel when the key is not in the ignition. This mechanism can wear down and lock up the wheel.

When you start to accelerate your truck jerks why is this?

Ignition is most likely culprit, plugs, wires, cap, etc - engines that run smooth at idle but break down under load again are usually ignition related. Year / model / engine would help determine where to start... I'd be looking into ignition issues.

When you turn on the ignition it fires but has a click when starting?

Likely the battery cables are corroded but the battery is fine. If the battery is good and your getting a clicking sound there likely that ...green corrosion... if you peel the rubber back off your terminals you will seee it. Don't waste money by not making sure the battery is dead first.

How do you know if your starter in your car is bad?

If the engine will not turn over then either the battery, starter, or ignition switch is bad. Turn on your headlights and have someone try to start the engine. If the lights go almost completely out then the battery is more than likely bad. If the lights just dim then the battery is probably good. Another way to check the charge of the battery is with a Digital volt meter. A fully charged battery will read 12.6 volts DC on the volt meter set to the 20 volt scale. If you do not see the light dim or go almost out, and hear a click, then the ignition switch is more than likely the culprit. This is assuming the main fuse is not blown. The only way to check the starter 100% is to remove it and have it bench tested at any auto parts store.

99 ford escort engine rattles very loud and acts if it's not getting enough gas to the engine?

The most likely culprit is the ignition coil. One of the terminals is shorted and the connected spark plug is not firing. This results in an unstable ignition sequence. The most likely casualty next will be the catalytic converter, if this condition is not repaired immediately.

Starter Ignition Neutral switch

Why will car ignition not turn over on the first attempt but will on the second?

I would suspect you have an ignition switch going bad, a starter solenoid that may be going bad or more than likely corroded or loose battery cable connections. Check the battery post connections first.
