Probably GPU speed.

I mean, if you have like 64mb of video RAM, you would definitely need more, but if you have 512bm-1024mb, then you're good for a while. According to benchmarks that I have seen, there is practically no difference between 1gb and 2gb of video RAM.

So as long as it has at least 512mb of video RAM, then how good a video card is, is determined by how fast the GPU inside it is.

What is the best laptop for graphic designers?

Honestly, there is no such thing as "the best laptop for designers". Luckily it's not that complicated. It's mostly based on your individual day-to-day operations and your budget. For example, the requirements for someone who does alot of video editing would be a bit higher than someone who designs posters etc. This relates to running "memory hog" applications such as Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere in comparison to just running PhotoShop and InDesign which require a bit less on the side of resources. Currently I am employed as a Graphic Designer/Web Developer. My usual day-to-day applications are Photoshop, InDesign, Dreamweaver(Windows)/Aptana Studio (Mac), Flash, Visual Studio. I am more of a developer than a designer and therefore performance is a big thing for me. Whenever I work I open all required applications simultaneously which (to me) makes my day a bit more productive. This means that I require a laptop which can handle Design and Development applications all running together with ease. I work at home or at the office (depends on my mood). Am a Mac and am a PC. My laptops are configured as follows and work perfectly without any crashes or "lack of memory" issues. They are both "high-end" laptops and would take a bigger chunk of your budget than "lower-end" laptops. At Work: MacBook Pro: 2.6 GHz Core 2 Duo, 4 GB DDR Ram 800MHz, 200 GB HDD, 512 MB Geforce 8600M GT Graphics Card, Mac OSX version 10.5.6. At Home: Dell Studio 17: 2.5 GHz Core 2 Duo, 4 GB DDR Ram 800MHz, 250 GB HDD, 256MB ATI®  Mobility Radeon HD 3650, Windows Vista Home Premium SP1. They both get the job done. But that's just for me. The job could get done with alot less in the "power" department such as 2GB of memory rather than 4GB or a 1.8 GHz Processor rather than a 2.5 Ghz which in turn saves you a few bucks. Therefore use what works for you and your pocket. K.K.R.

What two factors affect video card speed?

The two main factors that affect video card speed are the GPU's clock speed and the number of shader cores. The clock speed determines how fast the GPU can process instructions, while the number of shader cores directly impacts the card's parallel processing capabilities for graphics rendering.

Best CPU for Graphic Designers What matters most - Higher L2 Cash or Higher FSB?

Because of the needed calculation speed more L2 is better. More FSB would be better for presentation of 3D-Models or environment in realtime. But in rendering the GPU does not matter nor does the FSB. It is only L2 and RAM ! Because of the needed calculation speed more L2 is better. Is Photoshop more CPU or GPU intensive?

Photoshop is more CPU intensive than GPU intensive. This means that the performance of Photoshop is more dependent on the power and speed of the computer's central processing unit (CPU) rather than the graphics processing unit (GPU).

WHAT IS functions of 'GPU' in laptop?

The GPU is responsible for all the graphics rendering. A faster GPU will make video display smoother, enable advanced desktop enhancements, and allow for smooth(er) video gaming.

What are the features of Real video player?

How do you find out what video card is on your computer?

GPU-Z is a way ^^

Do you need internet to render a video?

no! you need only(or gpu) the cpu for that

Will overclocking my GPU hurt my computer?

If done incorrectly, overclocking can only damage the part that you tried to overclock (resulting in a burned-out chip which will almost always require replacement) or prevent the computer from starting up (not enough power to start up the computer).

What is better the Asus geforce GTX 680 or the gigabyte geforce GTX 680?

ASUS of course! ASUS has better Warranty on all products and have better casing/cooling to all of their GPU's. Although these are good Gigabyte are cheaper because of course there lack of performance and quality. Personally I would spend a bit more and get a better quality GPU.

What is a video graphics card?

A video card is a GPU (Graphics processing Unit) this is what displays everything you see on your computer monitor.

Do video cards have built in memory?

A video card does indeed have its own memory and processor. The memory or RAM is specifically designed to store and quickly access the data required to display high-quality graphics. The processor or GPU is responsible for all of the complex calculations and operations required to generate the graphics on the screen. The RAM on a video card is usually GDDR SDRAM. The GPU on a video card is usually a dedicated graphics processor. The memory and processor on a video card are specialized for graphics processing.Having its own dedicated memory and processor enable a video card to quickly and efficiently process graphics allowing for smooth and detailed visuals. Without these components the graphics on the screen would be less detailed and more choppy.

Should i get 4 gb ram w a 5870 gpu or 8 gb ram w a 5850 gpu?

Depends what you use the computer for, and how cheep it will be to upgrade in the future. If you play games, and can see the difference between frame rates, go with the better gpu. If you use CAD software, video editing and encoding, etc, you are better off with the extra memory. Also, take into account the cost of upgrade. Depending on your motherboard, it may be cheeper to upgrade ram or gpu. Note you can also Crossfire another 5850, to give the performance of a 5970.
