The law of Universal Gravitation states that every object in the universe attracts every other object.
Specifically for a black hole the range of gravitational influence is calculated by the "Shwarzchild Radius" and surprisingly the radius is quite small for even the biggest blackhole, If a blackhole had the mass of the earth, then the Shwarzchild radius would only be a centimeter! Meaning you would have to come with in a centimeter of the blackhole to get sucked in.
The gravity from a specific object (for example, the Sun) will become weaker if you go farther away from that object. The law of gravitation in general, and the gravitational constant, seems to be the same everywhere in the Universe.
You are at earths surface (call this 1 radius (1r) from earth center) with acceleration due to gravity at say 10 (m/s)/s, if you double your distance (in terms of radius this = 2r) and install in equation: a= 10/(2(r)^2) inverse square law a= 10/4 a= 2.5 (m/s)/s 2* distance = 1/4 the gravity 3* distance = 1/9 the gravity 4* distance = 1/16 the gravity

There is no such law for universal gravitation. In Sir Isaac Newton', treatise, the 'Principia'. it is the 'Universal Law of Dynamics'. This law has three parts ;- A body will remain stationery or in uniform motion, unless acted upon by a force. Force is directly proportional to both 'mass' and ' acceleration'. To every force there is an equal and opposite force. Newton based his work on that of two earlier scientists; viz;- #1 Galilieo , who established the Law of of Gravity on EARTH. #2 Johannes Kepler; who established the Law of Planetary motion. Newton 'stood omn the shoulders of giants'.
