Most of the Beatles' songs were written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney.
Lennon and McCartney competed to write the best songs, and the songs that would be chosen as the A-sides of Beatles singles. (They worked together to fill the gaps in each other's lyrics.)People called it 'The Musical Rivalry Between Lennon and McCartney' because John Lennon wanted to write rock n' roll music and Paul McCartney wanted to write more Pop music.

Lennon and McCartney were the co-writers for most of the Beatles songs.
Lennon apparently never met Donegan, though the Quarry Men did perform "Rock Island Line" and other songs from his repertoire. Paul McCartney got to see Donegan perform at a lunchtime show, when Donegan came to Liverpool.

Northern Songs
Paul McCartney and George Harrison went to the same high school. John Lennon's Art school (Liverpool Art College) was the next place over. They used to skip classes together, and practice in empty classrooms, or spend the afternoon at McCartney's or Harrison's house, or Lennon's stepfather's house. (Lennon had two half-sisters, Julia and Jacquie.) Ringo Starr came along later, but was also a native of Liverpool. They were business partners, as well as friends and bandmates. All four signed publishing contracts with Northern Songs; Lennon and McCartney owned nearly half the company at one time. They were also partners in Beatles Ltd., which became The Beatles and Co., and later Apple Corps Ltd. When Dick James (the Beatles' music publisher, who oversaw Northern Songs) sold his Beatles interests to Associated TeleVision (ATV), it led to Lennon and McCartney losing their publishing catalog. McCartney ultimately sued to break up the business partnership between the band members.
The most famous person with the surname of Lennon is Jon Lennon who was in 'The Beatles'. He was one of them throughout the 1960s and co-wrote most of their songs with Paul McCartney.
