Miep Geis (born Hermine Santruschitz) was a close friend of Anne Frank's family who, along with her husband and several other employees helped hide the Franks, the van Pel family and Fritz Pfeffer from the Nazis in the attic (or annex) for two years until someone betrayed them and told the Nazi's where to find them.
She was a hero who risked her life to help others in a time when people would turn their backs and spy on their neighbors to keep themselves safe from German harassment.
