Yes, Maltese are prone to many joint problems as they age. Mine is only 4 and she already has bad joints, but there are medications that your vet can give you to help. If it gets really bad they could need surgery.

Greek amphoras significantly influenced Brigantine Maltese pottery through their design and usage. The characteristic shapes and decorative motifs of Greek amphoras inspired local artisans, leading to the adoption of similar forms in Brigantine pottery. This cultural exchange facilitated the blending of Greek artistic techniques with local traditions, enhancing the aesthetic appeal and functional versatility of Maltese ceramics. Consequently, the influence of Greek amphoras helped shape the unique identity of Brigantine Maltese pottery.
I have not made ceramic vessels for some time as my practice has developed into painting - rather than using the surface of the ceramic form for painting. In terms of steps I have under taken to make the ceramic pots . I first coil the pots, by hand and then coat the form with a white slip ( engobe). I then construct the interlocking images - sketching these in pencil whilst moving the ceramic pot on a turn table. I want to ensure the surface works " in the round". I then painting in the images using layers of underground glaze, in a manner similar to watercolour techniques. The pot is then low fired to 1000 C degrees. After this I glaze the forms with a matt, clear glaze and do a final firing to 1100 degrees C. Hope this helps Brigiat Maltese
