They were two different women, both aviatrixes. Amelia Earhart is a household word. Miss Batten, however is not as well known. She was from New Zealand, made a number of record flights in the thirties, and survived WW2. It is not known if she was involved in any female auxiliary arms such as the WASPS or something similar- the British ATA air transport auxiliary. Miss Batten died in 1982 in seclusion. She passed on in Majorca, Spain.
