No; that was the myth thought to be true before Christopher Columbus discovered that the earth was round. The earth isn't a perfect sphere either. It is egg shaped.
Galileo
Galileo Galilee proved that the earth is round by earths shadow on the moon.
they Both researched that the earth was round
Galileo.
He discovered that the earth was round not flat.
Galileo Galili
cristopher coloumbus
Galileo Galilei
He did not need to discover that as it was already known by the ancient Greeks.
galileo was forced to stop studying astronomy after his claim that the earth moved round the sun. He was correct of course but this went against the christian teachings at the time as they believed that everything revolved around the earth
It was the Italian Galileo who poved that the earth rotates round the sun.
Galileo did not prove that Earth was not flat (It had already been agreed that it was round). Galileo invented the telescope and used it to prove that there were objects which did not orbit the Earth, supporting Copernicus' Heliocentric model for the universe. The Earth was known to be round by the ancient Greeks, but I do not who it found out initially (sorry).
