Gravity keeps it here, just like water, trees, us, and even keeps the very Earth together!
When the Earth was formed particles of gas around our sun started to clump together and the more mass this clump had the more gravity it gained (this occurred over millions of years)
The same thing keeps the air here. Air is so thin and light that it leaves the ground and yet stays here due to gravity.
As you go further up into the atmosphere the air gets thiner. That is because a large amount of air can't stay that high, due to gravity. Eventually you reach a point where there is no air because it is all near to Earth.
Hope this is helpful.
Air is retained on Earth due to Earth's gravity.
Because of lots of iron at top of earth, metal dial of compass is attracted to it.
The pocket of air that surrounds the earth is called? In:Uncategorized [Edit categories][Improve]
The gravitational pull of the Earth's core.
The moon has no air pressure because the moon has no air.
The layer of gases attracted to earth is atmosphere. It is a big layer.
basically because it has mass and is attracted to the earth by gravity.
our atmosphere is attacted by earth
Attraction to the Earth is caused by the force of gravity.
They are attracted by the gravitational attraction of the earth.
The gases in the air attracted to earth by gravity form layers called the atmosphere. The atmosphere is divided into five main layers: the troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere, thermosphere, and exosphere. Each layer has unique characteristics and plays a different role in regulating Earth's temperature and protecting life on the planet.
Gravity is a characteristic of space. Because of it, every material object encounters a force of attractiontoward every other material object. That leads to some interesting consequences:-- A satellite is attracted toward the earth.-- You are attracted toward the earth.-- The earth is attracted toward a satellite.-- A satellite is attracted toward you.-- The earth is attracted toward you.-- You are attracted toward a satellite.-- Two satellites are attracted toward each other.-- You are attracted toward Mars.-- The sun is attracted toward you.-- The sun is attracted toward a satellite.-- The sun is attracted toward my dog.-- You are attracted toward my dog, and also toward the sun.-- My dog is attracted toward Pres. Obama's golf balls....etc.
Earth's gravity pulling on air masses causes them to be attracted towards the surface of the Earth, creating atmospheric pressure. This pressure is responsible for maintaining the air in our atmosphere and helps drive weather patterns and circulation of air around the globe.
Earth orbiting the sun is a planet that is attracted to a star.
Everyone is 'attracted' to Earth because of gravity. And there is really no bottom of the Earth.
They are attracted by the gravitational attraction of the earth.
Magnets were attracted to the cor of earth.
