A Spartans first and only vacation was to be a warrior, anything else would be an insult to the other Spartans. The job of trade went to the Perioikoi, they traveled all across Greece and the Aegean and made Sparta fairly rich.
Spartans could travel if they wished, usually they just didn't. The city of Syracuse in Sicily was founded by Spartans. Travel was however discouraged as it tended to be the case that when a Spartan left Sparta they came back with all sorts of 'bad' habits.
They were not allowed to trade and travel because they could not risk a war or battle to start on foreign ground.(Even though they were a military community)
Sparta failed to develop a strong naval fleet, which hindered their ability to enhance trade through maritime routes. Unlike other city-states like Athens, Sparta's focus on land-based military prowess limited their engagement in seafaring commerce. Additionally, their rigid social structure and emphasis on self-sufficiency discouraged the pursuit of trade relationships and economic diversification. This lack of a robust trading network ultimately restricted Sparta's economic growth and access to resources.
only the Athens the Spartans had no trade (they were a milatary place)i got this from my text book
Unlike Athens who depended on trade, Sparta's economy depended on farming and taking control of the neighboring city-states. Sparta's environment couldn't take care of all of it citizens. In order to survive the Spartans had to take control of the neighboring city-states for the rich and fertilized soil. The people the Spartans caught after a raid were turned into slaves.Spartans had the slaves and noncitizens produce the goods they needed. Noncitizens were not slaves they were freemen. If they needed to, they were able to serve in the Spartan military. Noncitizens could not participate in the government. Noncitizens made products for money like shoes, red cloaks for the soldiers, iron tools like knives and spears, and pottery. Noncitizens also operated trade. They traded for the goods Sparta needed to survive. Spartans discouraged trade because of the fear of new ideas that would breakdown their government. Also trade wasn't easy for Sparta. Their money was iron rods not coins like some other city-states.
Legend has it that the Spartans utilized iron bars, to discourage hoarding. Archaeologists continue to search for evidence to support this legend. It seems likely that the Spartans utilized coins that had been minted elsewhere.

No the Athens and Sparta didnÍt trade. They both had different cultures and governments but both had power over Greece. The Athens had free speaking and democracy and smaller city-states to form a more powerful rule. The Sparta had a strong military and lots of land.
The Spartan economy was based on the large serf population delivering half their produce to Sparta which supported the city-state.

The lack of trade and travel likely isolated Sparta from external cultural influences, which could have reinforced their traditional values and practices. Economically, limited trade may have hindered the development of a diverse economy, potentially making Sparta more reliant on agriculture and local resources.
Sparta was a rural society. The city was more like a collection of villages. It lived frugally on its produce rather than on trade.
