The fire alone couldn't have melted steel, but the fire with the pressure from above, bent the support structure that was damaged by the jet. Once one floor collapsed, the rest followed.

∙ 13y agoThe heat generated by the flames that developed during the impact of the planes against the towers. That very heat melted the whole iron structure of the two buildings causing them to collapse.
