a solinoid is nothing but a relay... (it is a coil) when you put potential through it it causes an electromagnetic field causing contacts to change.. the only thing that will cause it to *die* is a broken wire or if the contacts points are burnt..
can a starter be removed from the top on a 98 Nissan sentra gxe
This vehicle (like most cars) has both a starter and an alternator. The alternator is driven by a serpentine belt, and the starter is located on the lower part of the engine at the transmission, where the teeth engage with the flywheel/flex plate. An alternator for the 1992 Sentra usually costs around $120-150, and a starter in the range of $90-120.
I have a 94 Nissan sentra but it's the same body style. My starter is located right below all the air intake hoses. the easiest way to find the starter is to take the airbox stuff out and then follow the ground wire from the negative end of the battery (the only wire leading off the negative end) to where it attatches to the transmission. The bolt that that wire attatches to is one of two bolts that attatches the starter to the transmission.
yes, both motors are exactly alike. 1.6L DOHC engine code: GA16DE
Unfasten the alternater mounting bolts, detach the electrical connector and disconnect the lead wires.

To replace the starter motor on a 2001 Nissan Sentra, first disconnect the negative battery cable to ensure safety. Remove the mounting bolts securing the starter motor, typically located on the transmission side, and detach the electrical connections. After removing the old starter, install the new starter by reversing the disassembly steps, ensuring all connections are secure. Finally, reconnect the battery and test the starter to ensure proper operation.
