The Articles were designed to meet the requirements of the Revolutionary War, which they did. The states at that time were highly independent and wished to preserve for themselves more power in deciding state issues.
The AofC is a short document. Read it. In its succinctness it shows that the Founders had only a temporary solution in mind for government. The Constitution is the next step in their government creation.

∙ 14y agoCongress was denied the power of taxation: it could only request money from the states. The states did not generally comply with the requests in full, leaving the Confederation Congress and the Continental Army chronically short of funds. As more money was printed, continental dollars depreciated.

∙ 13y agoNo. It was written that way to keep the Federal government from taking control of states rights. Never the less, the federal government does use different methods to coerce states to do their bidding by offering federal dollars for roads, schools, police and so on. If the states don't do it the way the feds want them to, the feds withhold the money. That is called politics.
