I don't know where you get the idea that Republicans want to end democracy. I suppose that depends upon your definition of Democracy. It would help if your question were more specific.
As President Obama said, "Elections have consequences." He challenged to GOP to go out and win - and they did: the Presidency and both Houses - but still not as powerfully as the Democrats in 2008. It is a Republic in full swing.
This assumption underlying the question is simply false; most Republicans do not oppose democracy in concept or practice. Republicans may have disagreements on policy with Democrats, but they do not oppose the mechanism of elections to decide who should have the right to govern and implement those policies.
Because Republicans supported the rights of Blacks.
because 1=1

They voted for the republicans because they thought that republicans will make things better.... Also they wanted to and people do what they want.. Why do you care?
A Democrat is a member of the Democratic Party, a democrat is someone who generally believes in principles of democracy. A democrat can be a Republican. That is someone who embraces the concept of democracy can be a member of the Republican Party. In fact, it is quiet likely that Republicans are democrats, as opposed to being Monarchists for example.
reasons for democracy
The radical Republicans did believe that Catholicism was a threat to the democracy of the US because of the anti-democracy teachings then.
