Before Botticelli's time paintings had religious subjects or were portraits. That is what people commissioned from artists. The interesting thing is NOT that there are FEW mythological paintings, but that there were some commissions for mythological subjects. And from then on those subjects grew more popular.
It was not like today: an artist paints what he likes and tries to sell it. In renaissance times you went to an artist and asked him to paint what you want.
Also, a radical monk named Savanarola burned 'earthly pleasures' including some of Botticelli's work. For more information on Savanarola's influence, I'd go to the link below.
Savanarola burned anything that he viewed as 'earthly pleasures', in 'bonfires of the vanities'. These bonfires burned some of Botticelli's works, which is why there is such a small number after his LONG career. Some say Botticelli followed Savanarola, and that is why he stopped making Mythological paintings. Others says the threat of Savanarola burning Mythological paintings was enough to make him stop. Either way, he stopped with the Mythological themes, and reverted back to his religious work. But this work wasn't very popular.
Due to the fact that most of Botticelli's mythological paintings were given to powerful families(such as the Medicis), they were protected from Savanarola's wrath.
Mostly, they are very old.
yes they are very valuble
The "cubism" created by Picasso was a newer form of modern art. His paintings are very valuable.
When it is not possible to recognise a subject. Some of the Analytical Cubism paintings are very close to this. On the other hand both Braque and Picasso titled their paintings as if they were realistic.
yes VERY valuable they are over $1,000
That would not be possible, since tacos are mythical and do not actually exist.
Yes dragons are very much mythical creatures.
An ancient myth is a very old story set in ancient times, with no truth in it at all, that is why some creaures are called mythical creaures, they don't exist.
No, they are mythical. There is a very slim possibility that one or more of them is based on a real creature.
Fat head girls are just mythical creatures they can't exist. yeah but the easiest way to make a girl VERY annoyed is to say sexist things about girls and or women.
A:Historically, Adam was not Cain's father, because they were mythical persons who did not really exist. Biblically, Adam was Cain's father.
Yes, very much so. His actions and his final 'promotion' to demi-god is mythical.
Joan Miro paintings can be found in the Louvre in Paris, France. He is a very famous artist. His paintings are very interesting and thought-provoking.
You cannot own a mythical dragon, as they do not exist. You can, however, own a komodo dragon or a lizard, which resemble dragons. You can also own a snake, which resembles a basilisk.
they smell very bad
if you work hard enough and be a very nice sprite then yes you may devolope some mythical aspects to your being.
His paintings are very unusual.
